Tuesday 18th July - bike *** Landguard Nature Reserve for a cuppa - sunny periods .

After three days of some full-on windsurfing I was pleased to woke to a still morning, I certainly needed the rest, as it is our day to visit old friend Mary we decided to head down to Landguard Nature Reserve on our bikes early. We were down on Felixstowe prom just after 7 with a flask packed for a cuppa with the sea like a millpool and another interesting sky with the sun peaking out from behind some wispy clouds:) We continued to the end of the prom at the Manor end but we had just got into the Nature Reserve when I had a puncture in my reat tyre!!! I have Slime in the inner tubes which repairs most small holes but stupidly I had left my pump at home! So I left Mag counting rabbits and butterflies and returned home to get the pump. 15 minutes later I had returned and my tyre was inflated and off we went again enjoying the peace and quiet:) We reached our spot on the old pier by the River Orwell just in time to see the Stenaline ferry head out, in fact there was loads going on the water this morning. We enjoyed our warming cuppa as the Cosco Container ship did a three point turn helped by three tugs and left as the dredger continues to dug away and the full spoil ship left too as well as an old wooden barge which was the best of all, several yachts and small fishing bats were also out. Then back along the prom, getting busier now, up the pram walk and home to send a few pics to the local TV weather, sadly none of todays pics were used but the lovely Chrris Page on ITV?s About Anglia used one I had submitted on Sunday, always nice to get on TV. Then breakfast before doing my exercises in the garden, got o keep the old body going!

Walk **** Around Felixstowe.

Then after lunch Mag and I walked to Marys who is pretty much house bound to take her up the town to do some shopping, not my favourite pastime but we really enjoyed a successful trip. It was then down to the seafront for a lovely stroll along the prom where Mary treated us to a cuppa at the kiosk near the Fludyers and watched the world go by.In the end we walked 3 miles as well as biking, we will sleep well tonight! What a great day:)
